Ashridge House Visit

A history tour of Ashridge House was organised by the Friends of Studham Church in July, and an eager group of visitors attended. The tour of the lovely building was conducted by Chris Sherriff, a well-known resident of Studham and long-time member of the Ashridge staff. The tour concluded in the Chapel, where visitors were treated to a wonderfully varied and accomplished organ recital by Adrian Lenthall.

Threat to Parish Church?

The Parish Church in Studham is a Grade 1 listed building and is nearly 800 years old. Its structure is inspected every five years to ensure that it is being adequately maintained and that it is safe to use. The latest Quinquennial Report has revealed serious structural concerns, and the race is on to save this important historic and much loved building from closure. To read further details, click here.

Studham Lower School

September 2009

The new extension to Studham’s C of E Lower School, built to provide on-site facilities for the ‘Acorns’ Pre-school, was formally opened on Saturday 26th September. The opening ceremony was conducted by the Ven. Paul Hughes, Archdeacon of Bedford, aided and assisted by Rev. Nicola Lenthall, Rector of Studham, Kensworth and Whipsnade, and local MP, Andrew Selous. The Archdeacon also marked the occasion with the planting of an oak tree, supervised by some new members of Acorns Pre-school.

Studham May Fair

The Annual Studham May Fair took place on the 22nd of the month, on a truly beautiful day when the sun shone and skies remained cloudless throughout.

As ever, the May Fair was organised by Des Salmon and his loyal and very hard-working team, on behalf of the Friends of Studham Church. £5,800 was raised - a wonderful achievement - and these monies will contribute to the much-needed church repair fund. Our sincere thanks to all involved: stall-holders, display folk, tent sponsors, dog-show organisers, the humpers and carriers, and all the visitors who, once again, dipped into their pockets so generously.
