In addition to the impressive displays of flowers and vegetables, the children from Kensworth Lower School added even more visual delights with some colourful and imaginative collages, which included entertaining story books. Many visitors were left reminiscing over the collection of photographs from years gone by.

‘Best in Category’ presentations were made to Jim Harrison, Rod Ledrum, Shirley Hull, Jackie Westrope, Jane Raft & Lena Davis. The prize for the best flower was given to David Shelley for his decorative dahlias and Alan McLelland won the award for the best vegetable with his globe onions. A new trophy, donated by Derek Mead in memory of his father, was awarded to Perpe Sinfield, whose orchids were voted by the judges as the ‘Best in Show’.

The afternoon concluded with an entertaining auction of the produce, conducted by Dave Rumble & Mick Cain.

The major prize in the Grand Auction of airline tickets up to the value of £250, funded by the Bedfordshire and Luton Community Foundation’s London Luton Airport Community Fund was won by Mr. Foster of Kensworth.

The Committee would like to extend their thanks to everyone who contributed towards the day’s success.
