Varsha chases off knife-wielding robbers

Well done to Mrs Varsha Patel of Kensworth Village Stores, whose amazing bravery in facing up to two armed robbers in December has been praised in the national press. Varsha had the presence of mind to throw hot tea at her attackers, followed by the mug itself! Such was the news coverage of this event that the shop’s security cctv footage of the attempted raid, and Varsha’s brave actions, have been posted on the internet.

... and the Bride galloped in!

Bride Paula Prescott was not inclined to go with a boring, traditional mode of transport for her wedding to Robin Kearney on Saturday 20th June 2009. Instead she opted to arrive at St Mary’s Church, Kensworth on ‘Guinness’.

As you can see, Paula’s arrival made for an eye-catching sight, although the horse was heard to express concerns over over the frock, and whether it’s bum looked big in this!

Kensworth Jazz Picnic

16th August 2009

In mid-August the annual Kensworth Jazz Picnic took place in the gardens of Lynch House, kindly hosted by Gillian and Tony Rubinpartly to mark Tony’s 70 year association with Kensworth. An appreciative audience relaxed in the summer sunshine and were entertained by Rance’s Rockin’ Chair Band.

After last year’s cancellation, the weather in September was much kinder to Colin Toten and colleagues from the Beds & Herts Vintage & Classic Car Club.
