Even honest residents may unwittingly fall foul of the law if they allow non-authorised carriers to dispose of their domestic and building project waste

Alarm Notification Order

On 26th November 2006, the South Beds District Council introduced an Alarm Notification Order. This measure is designed to enable the noise nuisance of building alarms to be silenced as quickly as possible. The order requires owners of commercial and residential properties with an alarm fitted to register at least one keyholder with SBDC. Any keyholder must:

Those failing to register a keyholder risk receiving a fixed penalty notice of £80, or a maximum fine of £1,000 if the notice is not paid within 14 days. To register online, click here

Mindless Vandalism

In June, a recently erected information panel in the Studham East Common car park was defaced with an obscene slogan in silver car paint spray. This is the second time the sign has been damaged my mindless thugs. The sign has also been shot at with air-gun pellets or similar, which have penetrated the outer surface of the board - leaving three small holes and crazing around them on the bottom left of the board.  This is more damaging than the spray paint (which at least can be cleaned off) as it means the board is no longer weather and damp proof. It is also disturbing to consider that people with malicious intent are using dangerous weapons in public areas - will a serious personal  injury be the next incident?

If you have information to offer in relation to this act of vandalism, please get in contact with the local police: telephone PC Louise Howard on 01582 473462  or via her mobile on 07747 006 707.  Your information will be treated in the strictest confidence.
